SAVANNAH, GA (February 20, 2015): An off-duty officer in route to his tour of duty foiled a burglary this morning when he responded to 911 calls and found a suspect in a business.
The West Chatham Precinct sergeant responding to a citizen’s call found a pickup truck partially in the roadway and a shattered front door to O’Reilly Auto Parts on the 4100 block of Ogeechee Road at 6:10 a.m.
Hamilton William Smith, 22, of a Brittlewood Court address, was located in the building. It was determined that he also had entered a truck that was parked nearby and he had taken the pickup in the roadway without permission.
