SAVANNAH, GA ( September 16, 2011) A suspect is in custody after two homicides overnight.
Friday Morning at 4:15 a.m. police were called to Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West 41st Street after a report of shots fired. Police found Sidon Antone James, 20, deceased in a common area of a rooming house.
Shortly after, police were alerted to a second body in the 300 block of 38th Street Lane where a second black male believed to be in his early 20s was found shot to death. The identity is not being released pending family notification.
Homicide detectives immediately began their investigation into both shootings. A canvas of the neighborhood was conducted; people in the community were interviewed. Anonymous tips began coming in to Crimstoppers that led investigators to a possible suspect. Anthony Bernard MORRIS, 44, was located hiding behind a fence near Stephens Avenue and 44th Street. He was taken into custody around 11:a.m. this morning. Evidence on his person linked him to the crime. This afternoon he was charged with murder. MORRIS was transported to CCDC and is expected to be arraigned Saturday.
The second homicide that occurred in the 300 Block of 38th Street is still under investigation. At this time it is still being investigated as a separate incident.
