SAVANNAH, GA (March 9, 2016): The Chatham County Grand Jury indicted a man March 9, who is believed to be responsible for the murder of two Savannah men.
The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department and the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Karonta Shamone Morrell, 37, without incident on March 3. He is charged with the murders of Rocquan Kemon Scarver, 17, and Jonathan Lang, 28.
Scarver was shot Dec. 10 near the intersection of 39th and Burroughs streets. He was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
On March 1, Violent Crimes detectives responded to the 500 block of West 40th Street, finding Lang, and Tonya Murcherson, 51, with gunshot wounds. Lang succumbed to his injuries at Memorial University Medical Center. Investigators do not believe Lang was the intended target.
