SAVANNAH, GA (March 16, 2017) – A traffic stop initiated by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Strategic Investigation Unit (SIU) led to the seizure of guns and drugs on Mar. 15.
SIU stopped the car in the area of Gwinnett Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard. SIU’s interactions with the driver, Lance Spencer, 36, led to a search of his car. SIU found three handguns and one assault rifle in Spencer’s car. One of the guns was found to have been stolen from Hardeeville, South Carolina. All the guns were seized, along with drugs that were found during the search.
Spencer’s charges included four counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, four counts of firearm during commission of a crime, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
