SAVANNAH, GA (August, 3, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department made a quick arrest after an armed robbery attempt and shooting near the intersection of Bay and Habersham Streets, on Aug. 2.
Reportedly, two adult victims were walking on Bay Street at approximately 11 p.m. when the suspect, a 15-year old male, approached them and demanded personal belongings. When one of the victims refused to comply, the suspect shot one of the victims. The victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
Soon after, a suspect description was given, leading officers to the intersection of Oglethorpe Avenue and Burney Street where the suspect entered a vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop and were able to arrest the suspect without incident.
The suspect was transported to the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center .He is charged with possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18 and possession of a firearm without a license. Aggravated assault and attempted armed robbery charges are pending.
