SAVANNAH, GA (June 29, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Violent Crimes Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 night near Whitaker and Huntingdon St. in which a woman was robbed just after 9 p.m. She was walking with three girls downtown when the robber stuck the woman in the face and got away with her bag.
Because of on-going undercover operations in the immediate area of the incident, officers were able to respond quickly. There are no cameras in the area where this incident occurred.
Chief Joseph H. Lumpkin, Sr. said, “This was a terrible thing to have happened to anyone in our city. We have placed additional undercover officers in the public spaces in our jurisdiction. We are asking the community to continue to be vigilant, travel in well-lit areas, and walk in groups.”
