SAVANNAH, GA (March 22, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a man, Monday evening.
Just after 5 p.m., Metro responded to the 100 block of Scarborough Street to find Jackie Heath, 22, suffering from a gunshot wound on the porch of a residence. Heath was subsequently transported to Memorial University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Originally, Heath reported that a red Crown Victoria with three unknown passengers were involved in the shooting. Upon further investigation of the incident, detectives determined the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. Investigators believe it was accidental.
Additionally, investigators recovered the weapon used in the shooting and found it to be stolen from another county. Charges for Heath are pending.
This case remains under investigation.
