SAVANNAH, GA (March 1, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a suspect in an early morning sexual assault near the intersection of West 36th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Just before 3 a.m., the armed suspect entered the residence of a woman in her early 40s. The victim was able to fight the suspect off and he fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a black male of a medium complexion and average build and possibly in his mid-20s to early 30s. He is clean shaven with a short haircut and is approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall.

He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and gray jogging pants.
