SAVANNAH, GA (June 29, 2015): Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) officers are investigating a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in which a Savannah businessman died.
Alexander Webber, 71, owner of Webber Garage on the 800 block of Staley Avenue, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center after the 8:33 a.m. crash on Montgomery Street at North Baldwin Circle. He was declared dead at the hospital.
He had been driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup south bound on Montgomery Street when the truck left the lane of traffic, hit a city trash can and crossed North Baldwin before colliding with a tree.
MAIT officers of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are continuing to investigate the crash, including possibilities that a medical episode could have been the cause.
