SAVANNAH, GA (August 1, 2012) A 24-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a Savannah musician during a robbery attempt last November.
Malcolm Kwame Brown was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police detectives and K-9 officers about 3 p.m. today on the 200 block of Avery Street, culminating an investigation of almost nine months.
He is charged with the shooting death of Jonathan David Brazell, 34, at Atwood and Seminole streets in the Paradise Park area on Nov. 13, 2011.
Brazell was walking in the usually quiet neighborhood just before 7 a.m. when two men in a car stopped and began a conversation. He was shot soon afterward and was declared dead at Memorial University Medical Center.
SCMPD Homicide detectives identified Brown as the shooter in the ongoing investigation involving multiple sources.
Brown has a history of arrests dating back to January 2006 with charges including robbery, obstruction, theft by receiving, simple battery, probation violation and possession of controlled substances.
