SAVANNAH, GA (June 16, 2015): Traffic officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department have joined the investigation into a collision last Thursday in which a Florida woman died from injuries that initially were not expected to be life-threatening.

Cindy De Felippo, 50, of Tequesta, FL., died after being transported from the 8:58 p.m. crash at Abercorn Street and Deerfield Circle to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

She had been a passenger in a 1999 Toyota Camry driven by her husband, Anthony De Flippo, 52.  Their car was struck on the passenger’s side by a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck as the Camry was turning left from Abercorn into Deerfield Road. The pickup was driven by Johnny Godbee, 62, of Savannah.

Major Accident Investigation Team MAIT officers were brought in Friday morning after Mrs. De Felippo’s condition worsened and she died after being transferred to Memorial University Medical Center. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call MAIT investigators at (912) 525-2296.
