SAVANNAH, GA (July 5, 2016) – The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to two serious accidents during the July 4 holiday.
Two sport utility vehicles collided and flipped at approximately 4 p.m., July 4, near the intersection of Bee Road and Victory Drive. One person was entrapped in one of the vehicles; however, there were no serious injuries reported. Mark Christopher Hamrick, 44, was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence.
At approximately 8 p.m., July 4, a single car accident occurred in the 1000 block of Dutchtown Road. The driver, Robert Holland, 53, lost control of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving, crashed through a fence and hit a tree. He was transported also transported to Memorial with serious injuries.
The exact causes of these accidents are still under investigation by MAIT.
