UPDATE: A citizen’s anonymous Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest of Summer Barnwell, 22, on Thursday, Dec. 19. Barnwell is charged with theft by shoplifting.

SAVANNAH, GA (December 16, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Islands Precinct detectives are using surveillance camera footage to help identify a woman who stole merchandise worth several hundred dollars from a Savannah beauty supply store in November.
The theft occurred at 2:52 p.m. on Nov. 20, at Beauty Mecca, on the 7100 block of Skidaway Road. Surveillance footage showed an unidentified female approach the register as though she was preparing to pay. Without warning, the female stuffed several items into a bag, then ran out of the store. She entered a blue car, fleeing in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a black female, in her 20s. She is short in stature with a thin build. During the incident she wore eyeglasses, a black leather jacket with a red and white shirt, jeans and black flat boots.
