UPDATE: The FBI has released additional photographs of last week’s bank robbery suspect of the Ameris Bank on Stephenson Avenue. The subject is described as a heavyset black male wearing a gray in color ECKO sweatshirt with the number 19 on it. The suspect fled the scene in a black SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition. Individuals with information on this case are asked to call the FBI at (912) 790-3100, Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. SAVANNAH, GA (January 21, 2016): The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Task Force and Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at approximately 3:30p.m., Jan. 21, at the Ameris Bank in the 400 block of Stephenson Avenue.
The suspect is described as heavyset black male, at least six feet tall, wearing a gray hoodie and dark sunglasses.
The suspect entered the bank, displayed a handgun to thebank teller and demanded money. After the teller complied with the suspect’s demands, he fled the scene in a dark sport utility vehicle with no license plate in the direction of Abercorn.
