SAVANNAH,GA ( April 8, 2011) Savannah–Chatham Metro Police are assisting The Federal Bureau of Investigations in the investigation of a bank robbery.
1:15 p.m., SCMPD responded to the Sun Trust Bank inside the Kroger located on Mall Boulevard after receiving a call of a bank robbery. Officers were told that a suspect walked into the store and presented a note demanding money. He then brandished a black handgun. The bank teller complied and the suspect made away with an undisclosed amount of cash. He walked out of the store and got into a light blue older model mini-van and left the scene in an unknown direction. The FBI responded and assumed the investigation.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6’1”-6’3”, 210 lbs. He was wearing jeans, a long-sleeved, blue jeaned shirt, black shoes and a baseball cap with lettering on it. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at (912) 232-3716, the police or Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
