SAVANNAH, GA (October 9, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to a wreck on the Bull River Bridge that claimed the life of Susan Allen Bartoletti, 34, on Thursday night.
At 9:21 p.m. Bartoletti was traveling west on Highway 80 on a 2012 Genuine Buddy 170 Moped. Shawntina Jones, 31, was driving east on Highway 80 in a Pontiac Grand AM. Bartoletti is believed to have swerved into the east bound lane, causing the moped to collided with the Pontiac near the midsection of the bridge.
Bartoletti was fatally injured on impact. She died at the scene. Jones and her passenger Kenneth Rivera, 27, were transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Southside Fire, EMS, Metro’s Aviation Unit and Islands Precinct patrol officers responded to the scene.
All lanes of the Bull River Bridge were closed to vehicular traffic for approximately 4 hours.
