SAVANNAH, GA (June 30, 2020) – Quick action by Northwest Precinct patrol officers led to the apprehension of a 27-year-old male who shot a firearm into the air on Saturday, June 27.

At around 1 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Bull Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on a report of a shots fired incident. Upon arrival, officers located damage to a residence, which was occupied at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.

Officers received pertinent information from witnesses on the scene, which allowed them to locate the suspect, later identified as Dashon Grant. Due to information sharing between officers and community members, Grant was apprehended without incident and charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, discharging of a gun near a public highway or street, and discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

SPD continues to encourage community members to stay vigilant in addressing criminal activity by contacting the police if they witness illegal acts.
