SAVANNAH, GA (December 11, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Islands Precinct detectives are using surveillance camera footage to help identify suspects who, in August, burglarized the office of an east Savannah cemetery, stealing several checks and depositing them into an accomplice’s bank account.
Mickey Crawford, 30, of Savannah was arrested after being linked to a commercial burglary on Aug. 24, at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery, on the 1600 block of Wheaton Street. Investigators learned that items stolen include electronic devices, an air conditioning unit and several personal checks written by customers. Surveillance footage showed two males, including one later identified as Crawford burglarizing the business. Crawford, a former cemetery employee, was arrested Aug. 29 and charged with second degree burglary.
In October, investigators obtained security camera footage from a Bank of America ATM showing an unidentifed male depositing the stolen checks on Aug. 25.
The suspect recorded at the ATM is a black male with a medium brown complexion, in his mid-20s to early 30s. During the deposit, he wore an Atlanta Braves ball cap, gray T-shirt and large watch.
