SAVANNAH, GA (August 11, 2015): Southside Precinct detectives of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the theft of an automatic teller machine containing a significant sum of cash from a South State Bank branch early Sunday morning.
Just before 5 a.m. Metro responded to a security alarm activation at the branch on Mall Boulevard. Officers observed that the ATM was missing.
A stolen boom lift used for construction was found behind a nearby restaurant on the 400 block of Mall Boulevard. Investigators believe the lift was used to remove the machine before it was placed in a vehicle with an unknown driver.
This is an ongoing investigation.
