SAVANNAH, GA ( July 27, 2011) Thanks to donations from local businesses, one very talented artist, and a little hard work, the kitties at Savannah-Chatham Animal Control will have a fun new place to play.
A few weeks back a conversation sparked an idea that blossomed into a quest for donations. First, the nice folks at Pepsi were eager to help. They loaded us up with crates for our “idea” of a kitty play area. Second, they sent us over to their partners at Lowes. They jumped right on the band wagon, helping us come up with a plan and donating the products we would need to make it happen. Then, as we started to put our plan into action, the thought of a mural came to mind. Local artist Adolfo Hernandez was quick to donate his time and talent to the project. Finally, we needed carpet for the kitties to sleep on ( the finishing touch) so we asked Savannah Floor Covering. They too were very generous and donated for the cause.
The final product is fantastic! It’s a fun, colorful place for a lot of kitties to play. The play tower utilizes vertical space. Which allows more cats to be in the room, seen and hopefully adopted.
We will be “unveiling” the Kitty Play Place Friday, July 29, 10:30 a.m., at Animal Control. Please join us as we dedicate this fun new area, and thank all the generous people who helped make it happen.
