SAVANNAH, GA (May 27, 2015): The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police and Garden City Police are investigating two attempted bank robberies on Savannah’s west side this afternoon.
At 1:55 p.m. the FBI and Metro responded to an attempted bank robbery at the Wells Fargo branch on the 3500 block of West Bay Street. Investigators learned that a male suspect entered the bank claiming to have a gun and demanding cash, but abruptly fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as a black male, standing 5-08 to 5-10 with an average build. He has a bald head and a salt and pepper goatee. He wore a gray t-shirt with an “MPS” logo, black cargo shorts and black sneakers during the incident.
At about 2:07 p.m. FBI agents and Garden City Police responded to another attempted bank robbery on the 4400 block of Augusta Road at a Bank of America branch. A second male suspect told staff he was armed and demanded money. He fled the scene on foot.
The second suspect is described as a black male in his 40s wearing a black hat.
