SAVANNAH, GA. (April 3, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a three vehicle wreck that left 5 people injured and closed ACL Boulevard from McCleod Avenue to Fenwick Avenue this afternoon.
At 1:21 p.m. Metro responded to a vehicle accident in the Liberty City area. Preliminary investigation revealed that while traveling south on ACL Boulevard toward Cowan, a City of Savannah Ford F-350 truck, occupied by three workers, was struck by a Ford Windstar minivan. The Windstar’s driver crossed into the southbound lane while traveling north on ACL, striking the driver’s side of the F-350. A Chevrolet Avalanche traveling behind the F-350 was struck by debris from the truck’s rear.
The Ford Windstar’s driver was extricated from the vehicle with serious injuries, and was transported to Memorial University Medical Center. Drivers of the two other vehicles and two passengers were transported to Candler Hospital with minor injuries.
SCMPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), Precinct 1 patrol officers, and both the Southside and Garden City fire departments responded to the scene.
This is an ongoing MAIT investigation.
