SAVANNAH, GA. (November 21, 2013): A man, woman and a 15-year-old girl have been arrested and charged after the armed robbery, auto theft and attempted kidnapping of a Savannah woman Wednesday.

Luther Bernard Greene, 17, Lashawnda Sierra Barnwell, 19, and the juvenile were arrested three hours after the robbery at East Taylor and Lincoln Streets. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police robbery detectives have charged each with armed robbery, hijacking of a motor vehicle and kidnapping.

They were identified after officers in the newly formed Tactical Investigation Unit (TIU) conducted a surveillance of the stolen car. Officers took the suspects into custody when they again approached the car.

The 21-year-old owner of the white 2002 Ford Focus reported she was walking back to her vehicle with several packages about 11 a.m. when a young male and female approached her, demanded her belongings and drove away with the car.

The TIU was established two weeks ago by interim Assistant Police Chief Terry Enoch, and Patrol Majors James Barnwell and Richard Zapal, partially to help address the issue of violent crimes.
