SAVANNAH, GA (September 30, 2013): Two men have been detained after a Savannah woman was shot while in her own yard today, but Metro Police have not yet determined if they are connected with the case.
The men met the description of a pair that ran after the 62-year-old woman was shot near Atlantic Avenue and Columbus Drive about 1:40 p.m. She told responding Central Precinct patrol officers she was in her yard with her dog when she saw the menin the lane behind her house and heard a shot, then felt a pain.
She was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of a wound considered non-life threatening while patrol officers and violent crimes detectives saturated the area.
The two men, age 26 and 29, were located on East 61st Street between Abercorn and Bull streets. One was arrested on a weapons charge after a foot chase through the neighborhood. The other was detained for questioning.
