SAVANNAH, GA (July 31, 2013): Violent Crimes detectives are investigating three shootings in different areas of Savannah that left two dead and three injured Tuesday night.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police investigators have not determined if any of the shootings are related and are seeking witnesses to help identify suspects.
Dominique Bright, 18, and Syheem Spaulding, 15, died en route to hospitals after a 9:43 p.m. shooting at East 39th and Cedar streets that left Sha’nai Harris, 15, with non-life threatening injuries. All three were in the street when they were shot.
Earlier, at 9:23 p.m., Downtown Precinct officers had responded to a shooting at East Oglethorpe Avenue and Wilder Street where they found Javaris Smith, 25, of the 6000 block of Oglethorpe Avenue, with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He indicated to police that he was familiar with the person who shot him.
At 10:01 p.m., Downtown Precinct patrol officers responded to West 34th and MLK Jr. Boulevard where they found Jamon Cody, 23, of the 2200 block of East Gwinnett Street, in the street with gunshot wounds. He was in serious but stable condition at Memorial University Medical Center.
