UPDATE: Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Violent Crimes detectives currently have a person of interest in custody with charges pending regarding the homicide earlier today, which claimed the life of Aahkil Heyward, 22.

SAVANNAH, GA (March 16, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s violent crimes detectives responded to a shooting at approximately 1:30 a.m., March 16, at a residence in the 400 block of East 38th Street.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter call in the area and found the victim Aahkil Heyward, 22, deceased outside the residence. The victim’s father, Lewis Heyward, 57, and Tracy Taylor, 53, sustained non-life threatening injuries during the incident. Heyward and Taylor were treated at Memorial University Medical Center.
This is an ongoing investigation.
