SAVANNAH, GA (June 20, 2013): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have charged a shooting suspect who in turn was shot by an off-duty university police officer Thursday afternoon.
Tyrone Williams, 20, of a Lynah Street address, was arrested after he was treated for non-life threatening wounds at Memorial University Medical Center following the shooting at Jergensen and Martha Streets off Skidaway Road.
He was shot by a Savannah State University police officer who reacted to a shooting in which Williams had shot Christopher Washington, 21, of the 2200 block of Jergensen Street. Washington was being treated for potentially life threatening wounds at Memorial Thursday night.
Metro, Thunderbolt and SSU officers responded to the scene. SCMPD violent crimes detectives are continuing to investigate the shootings.
